Yes, you must be licensed, in the application process or demonstrate the ability to comply with your local city or state agencies and be willing to get licensed when it is applicable. We recognize that laws vary greatly from county to county and state to state. The local and state regulations will determine the degree to which this requirement is enforced.

How do I obtain a state, county or city license?

What does Envirocann certify?

Envirocann certifies the management practices of cannabis and hemp farmers, processors and retail establishments. We offer two levels of certification. Envirocann Certification is basic compliance verification to state and local laws and includes pesticide testing for crops at all stages of production. Our highest level of certification, EnvirOganic, includes verification of applicable local & state laws, pesticide testing, and validates the use of the use of organic and regenerative farming methods.

Can I label my cannabis as organic?

The USDA does not recognize cannabis as an agricultural commodity and therefore cannabis cannot be labeled or otherwise represented as organic. Patients, consumers, and processors want to have access to organic cannabis and EnvirOganic certification provides producers with a way to highlight organic compliance in the marketplace. To achieve EnvirOganic certification all cultivation and/or processing practices must be in compliance with the National Organic Program and all certified products must pass pesticide residue testing. Use of the USDA logo or the word organic is not allowed however the EnvirOganic logo will represent your products at an even higher level of integrity. Contact us directly for more details regarding the requirements for EnvirOganic certification.

How do I get certified by Envirocann?

To get certified, first you submit a complete application with the nonrefundable application fee of $1000. The application fee is deducted from your annual certification fee once your application is accepted. Once Envirocann receives your application you will be provided an Envirocann Management Plan (EMP) that suits your production methods. You then complete the EMP, which details all your practices, and return it to Envirocann for a desk audit. Once the initial review is completed and your EMP is accepted, an inspection will be scheduled to verify that all protocols described in your EMP are in fact in place and functioning as described. Upon completion of the inspection your inspector will submit a report to Envirocann for review. Once the review is complete, a certification decision will be made based on the compliance factors of the tier of certification being sought. Samples will be collected at your initial inspection and may be collected at any subsequent inspections. All clients enrolled in the certification programs will be required to pass pesticide residue tests of samples during production and of final product. EnvirOganic level producers may not have any pesticide residue on products at all.

Does Envirocann conduct inspections for state, county, or city licensing?

Envirocann was an approved third party inspection agency for the Mendocino 9.31 Program when it was in effect. We are open to working with other local or state agencies to assist in the licensing process.

What are the factors that Envirocann considers in the certification process?

Best management practices, environmental stewardship and local/state compliance regarding all aspects of cultivation including access roads, water supply, production areas, materials, processing, storage, and distribution. You can expect these aspects of your production to be inspected and all management systems to be verified. The use of integrated pest management as an alternative to toxic pesticides is required and resources can be provided to producers making this transition. Our certification program was built to meet the need for cannabis cultivated without causing harm to the environment or in turn to consumers/patients. Quality assurance and product integrity is of the utmost importance to our staff.

How is canopy size measured?

The area of cultivation is calculated from the perimeter of the areas where cannabis is grown and includes, but is not limited to, garden beds or plots, and the exterior dimensions of green houses. Single noncontiguous plants are calculated as 100 square feet each unless otherwise demonstrated.

This vision was the foundation for the creation of Envirocann.
